This new year, InterRidge intends to focus on defining a new vision for the next decade (2024-2033) and coming up with a document for everyone to view. Of course, this won’t be done in a vacuum. We will solicit your ideas and suggestions. We plan to continue the monthly InterRidge Webinar Series. Last September, Seoul National University was awarded a Science Research Center (SRC) grant to investigate the interaction between the deep and surface geological/geodynamic processes. As part of SRC, we plan to organize a weeklong geological field trip to Oman to study different suites of Ophiolite, perhaps in January 2024. The InterRidge Webinar in January will be given by Prof. Sobhi Nasir, who will provide an exciting overview of the Samail (well-known) and Masirah (less well-known) ophiolite complexes. He will make the case that the latter was produced in the mid-ocean-ridge-like setting. Because the threat of coronavirus still lingers, I plan to run InterRidge Theoretical Institute online, provided there is sufficient interest among the members. The timing of the Theoretical Institute will be announced later.

I hope you all have a wonderful and healthy New Year.
